We heated this apple in the oven to represent Earth in the very beginning and then we cooled it down and watched the apple change shape, like Earth.
Making goop from cornstarch and water to represent the Earth's mantle.
We made goop and discovered how it could be both a SOLID...
and a LIQUID at the same time, just like the Earth's mantle.
This represents the Earth's crust floating on the solid/liquid mantle.

Rock Quarry
Today we took a tour of a rock
quarry. It was amazing! It covered 115 acres and was 485
feet deep! The pictures just don't do it justice. It was a
HUGE hole! The acreage around the top of the quarry was dedicated
to preserving animal habitats. They have planted butterfly
gardens, hung many bluebird houses and butterfly houses, built 6 ponds,
and left the rest of the acreage untouched for other animals to safely
live there.
