Elephant Art Elephant Dung Paper Thailand is renowned for its natural paper made from tree fibers (known as Sa or Mulberry paper). Whilst passing a paper factory one day Wanchai Asawawibulkij was inspired to try using similar processes on the fiber from elephant dung. After much experimentation using his wife's food processor (he's since bought her a new one, you'll be relieved to hear!), 'Elephant Dung Paper' was finally developed. Click here to see how the paper is made. The entire process for making the paper from the end of the elephant to the finishing touches takes about 15 hours. One elephant can produce 115 sheets of paper a day! Thai Elephant Orchestra toadhaven.com |
