Toad Haven Homeschool
On the last day of our Florida adventure, we spent the day at Epcot. Yay!! I have always loved everything
multicultural and so absolutely love spending time at Epcot getting to travel the world all in one day.
We took my Flat Nephew who was visiting from Kansas with us.
Our first stop was Norway.

Then we saw a kiosk for Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure and decided to try it out. It turned out to be a really fun interative quest played throughout the countries section of Epcot. We were given a super secret “kimmunicator” which looked like a cell phone. The “kimmunicator” allowed us to communicate with characters from Kim Possible who gave us clue on how to find the bad guys and thwart their evil plans.

Our first mission sent us to France. See the Eiffel Tower over there. In France we had to find a specific spot on a certain street and aim our camera at the Eiffel Tower and then a picture was taken of us magically and sent to our phone. Pretty cool! Our phone also turned a regular bookshelf into a talking bookshelf when we got close enough to activate it. We had to find a total of about 4 or 5 secret locations and interactive spots before we completed the quest in France.

Our next mission took us to the United Kingdom. We saw a crowd of people watching a show and so decided to go over and check it out before working on our mission.

They were performing a very funny play using people from the audience as the main characters. It was a play about King Arthur and the Holy Grail. It was full of fabulously terrible puns. So funny! I was enjoying the show very much until I noticed that one of the characters hadn’t been cast yet. There was a pretty scarf still on King Arthur’s wagon. I was on the front row and sis n’t want to be picked to play the part so I quickly sat down and pretended to be looking for something in my bag...

but it didn’t work and I got picked! I was petrified but desperately tried to play it cool. :)

Here’s a link to someone’s video of the whole play on another day, if you’d like to see all the puns.
After the play, we got back to work thwarting crime by making our communicator activate various objects around Great Britain.

We passed through Canada but there was no quest adventure there.

Japan

We found more crime to stop. This time our missions involved our phone magically changing a dead bonzai trees back to life, turning on a magic waterfall, discovering a magic rock that lights up a secret code when activated and activating a scary robot baby in a store.

We also accidentally found one of the many Hidden Mickeys. There are books and website devoted to helping people find all the different Hidden Mickeys. I want to take on that adventure next time we visit Disney.

Then it started to rain on us. We were able to do the Kim Possible mission in Germany but I didn’t get any pictures. :(

so we headed to Liberty Inn Restaurant because we knew that they served cheeseburgers there on gluten free buns and we haven’t had that luxury since moving to California 8 months ago. We were SO EXCITED!!
Disney does a great job of providing food for people with all different kinds of food allergies and intolerances. We contacted Epcot before we arrived to let them know what day we planned to be there so that they would know to have extra gluten free options on hand.
We went to the counter to order and told them that we had an allergy and they assured us that it would be no problem and that the manager would personally handle our whole order. The manager came out and took our order and then cooked our food herself and brought it out to us. We felt so safe eating there and it tasted so good! One of the managers we deal with that day was even gluten intolerant herself.
They even had gluten free brownies and gluten free chocolate chip cookies for us!! Yay!!!

By the time we finished eating, our Kim Possible Kimmunicator timed out thinking that it had been forgotten about and/or lost somewhere and the kiosks had closed down for the day so we weren’t able to get it rebooted to finish our quests. We were so bummed out. We still had three adventures to partake in - China, Norway and Mexico.
Oh, well. Hopefully, it will still be there the next time we get to visit Epcot. We’d really like to finish them up.
So, we spent the rest of our time there riding the rides. Super Bowl weekend turned out to be the best weekend ever to go to Disney because most people want to stay home that weekend to watch he game and so don’t plan vacations to Disney that weekend. Yay, us!!! We were able to walk right on to any and all rides we wanted to ride with no lines. We could do them over and over until time for the fireworks show.

I made a photo album to send back to my nephew’s class showing all of Flat Jared’s adventures in Florida. I decided at the last minute to take a picture of every page in the album and make a quick video so his mom could see it, too. Just thought I’d add it here.
